Harvard’s Institute for English Language Programs (IEL) welcomes students from around the world who wish to improve their English skills. Courses will prepare you to continue advanced studies at American universities, to communicate with ease in professional situations, and to use English with confidence in all aspects of your life.
If you live outside the United States and wish to come to Harvard for the summer to study English, Harvard Summer School's intensive programs provide opportunities to study English full time. You attend classes Monday through Friday, and you may live on campus. As a student in an intensive program, you are eligible for an I-20 certificate for an F-1 visa.
If you live in the Boston area and want to take an evening class to improve your English, this program has a variety of courses that meet on campus two times each week.
The Summer School offers an English language program for high school students who are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
Full information about summer 2009 programs, including registration instructions, dates, and costs, will be available in late January. Programs will be similar to the ones offered in 2008, and you can read about the 2008 English language programs.
